CHICKEN TIKKA SKEWERS

Chicken Tikka Skewers

Chicken Tikka skewers is an Indian flavourful chicken recipe made from boneless chicken pieces which are marinated in yogurt and a whole lot of spices. It is the blend of Indian spices used to prepare the marinade which makes this recipe absolutely delicious. The aroma and taste is so addictive that you will keep craving for this again and again!

INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED:

  • 600g boneless chicken thighs
  • 4 tsp yoghurt
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper
  • 3/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp kasuri methi
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tsp oil
  • Juice of 1 whole lemon

MARINATING THE CHICKEN TIKKA SKEWERS

In a bowl add yogurt and all of the spices (ground coriander, ground cumin, salt, red chilli powder, paprika, pepper powder, garam masala). Later add kasuri methi, lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, oil and mix everything to a fine paste. Add the boneless chicken thighs, combine everything and let the chicken marinate for at least 2 hours. However overnight marination works the best so if you have enough time let it sit in the refrigerator overnight.

THREADING THE SKEWERS

The next step after the marination is to thread the skewers. If you are using the bamboo skewers make sure you soak it for 30 minutes in cold water to prevent the skewers from burning. Now thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers. If you are using large skewers you can thread 8 -10 pieces on each skewer but if you are using the mini skewers just thread about 4-6 pieces.

AIR FRYING THE CHICKEN TIKKA SKEWERS

You can definitely grill this on a grilling pan but I would like to do this in the air fryer. I personally like to line the air fryer basket with a baking paper so that the juices stay intact and the chicken does not dry up. Place the skewers in the air fryer basket and then set the mode to grill. If your air fryer does not have the grill mode you can just set it on air fry mode. Set the temperature to 185 degrees celsius and the timer to 25 minutes, grill each side for about 12 minutes. You can enjoy this just as a starter with some chutney or sauce or you can serve this with some roti/naan and enjoy a wholesome dinner.
