SPICY CHICKEN BUNS

Spicy chicken buns

The other day I was craving some spicy chicken as well as some dinner rolls, so I combined both of them and made these super amazing Spicy Chicken Buns. They were so good, that my family wants to me to make them again. It takes a bit of an effort to cook things from scratch, but the joy it gives you is phenomenal. The happiness of a good home cooked meal is unmatched, that’s exactly what I felt when I made these spicy chicken buns for myself and my family. Super soft buns filled with spicy chicken filling, drenched in some garlic butter, just amazing isn’t it. Now let’s get started!

THE DOUGH

Making the dough is really simple. We will we using instant fast action yeast to further simplify the process.

In a bowl you wanna add flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Mix these dry ingredients well, then add milk, egg and butter. Using a spatula roughly mix all of the ingredients. At this point the dough will be really sticky, but don’t worry about that, that’s exactly how it should be at this point of time. Now dust some flour over a clean working space. Transfer the dough to the working space and knead the dough really well for about 10 to 15 minutes. At this point the dough will be smooth and it will no longer be sticking to your fingers, and that’s when you know the dough is done. Cover the dough with a damp kitchen towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 60 to 90 minutes. After 90 minutes the dough should double in size.

SPICY CHICKEN FILLING

Marinate the bite size boneless chicken pieces with yogurt, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and some spices. Cook on a pan with some oil along with some sliced onions, until the meat is tender. Set that aside and allow it to cool down completely.

STUFFING THE BUNS

Once the dough has doubled in size we divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a small circle with the help of a rolling pin. Add 2 tbsp chicken filling in the centre and bring all the edges together and seal the bun. Roll between your palms for a smooth finishing. Prepare all the buns in a similar way and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it proof for the second time in a warm place for 30 to 45 minutes.

BAKING THE SPICY CHICKEN BUNS

Pre-heat the oven in the last 20 minutes to 175 degree celsius.

After 30 minutes egg wash( or milk wash) the chicken buns and bake in the oven at 175 degree celsius for about 20 to 25 minutes. Once they are done, serve warm and enjoy.
