Ingredients

Ingredients to make dough

  • 2 1/4 tsp instant fast action yeast 7 g
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 4 cups flour

Ingredients to make cream cheese filling

  • 300 g cream cheese
  • 6 tbsp whipping cream or double cream

Ingredients to make butter garlic mixture

  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley

Instructions

MAKING THE BUNS:

  • In a bowl add all of the ingredients mentioned to make the dough and roughly mix with the help of a spatula. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead the dough for about 10 to 15 minutes. When the dough is smooth and no longer sticks to your fingers, you know that the dough is done. Cover it with a damp kitchen towel and place in a warm place to proof for about 60 to 90 minutes.
  • After 60 minutes, the dough doubles in size. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion in between your palms to form a smooth dough ball. Repeat the process to all portions and make 8 equal sized dough balls. Place all the dough balls in a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover with a damp kitchen towel and let it proof for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  • In the last 20 minutes, pre-heat the oven to 175 degree celsius.
  • After 30 minutes, the dough balls will rise again. Egg wash and bake in the oven at 175 degree celsius for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Once the buns are out of the oven, transfer them to a wired rack and let them cool down completely

CREAM CHEESE FILLING

  • In bowl add 300g cream cheese and break in until it is a bit soft. Now add whipping cream or some double cream, and mix until everything is combined and smooth.

BUTTER GARLIC MIXTURE

  • In another bowl, add egg, butter, minced garlic, and dried parsley. Whisk until everything is combined.

FILLING AND BAKING THE BUNS

  • Once the buns have cooled down completely, cut them into 6 equal wedges, make sure not to cut the buns completely. Look at the video tutorial below for the process.
  • Take a piping bag and fill it with the cream cheese mixture we prepared earlier. Now carefully pipe the cream cheese filling between each wedge. Repeat the same process to all the buns.
  • Once done dip the buns into the butter garlic mixture, and repeat the process for all the buns.
  • Place the prepared buns in a baking tray, lined with parchment paper.
  • Pre-heat the oven 175 degree celsius.
  • Bake the filled buns for about 15 minutes, or until they are crispy. Now enjoy these delicious Korean garlic cheese buns
